CAREER EXPLORATIONS
Course Description
Are you uncertain as to what career you want to pursue after high school? If so, this is the course for you. The purpose of this course is to allow students the opportunity to explore numerous careers. Each student will identify their abilities and skills, then utilize the 8 Iowa Career Pathways to look at groups of occupations that will link what they learn in school to the knowledge and skills they will need for success after high school. Each student will participate in a job shadowing experience. Guest speakers from the various Career Pathways are an important part of this class.
Students will also work on their job-readiness skills including: job search strategies, applications, resumes and cover letters, and interviews/follow-up letters. ALL materials worked with in class will be used to develop a personal job portfolio for future use! |
